The Sportsman was originally two houses Barnett and Dunstanburgh house until it was converted thirty five years ago.B&b Northumberland style is what we offer ! Our style is natural woods and neutral colours, ivory whites on wood and browns for warmth. A little quirk here and there like our one touch lights or our crystal lights. The beds are French oak and are reminders of the driftwood found on our beaches in Northumberland. Accommodation comprises of 10 ensuite rooms, eight of which overlook the sea, one room has recently been fitted with a stand alone roll top bath in an adjoining room which albeit with the door open has sea views. The bedding we use in our rooms is Egyptian cotton and our towels are the very large soft type. We ve been rated through the tourist board as a three diamond b&b Northumberland but we are going for a new rating due to the fact that we have implemented many changes.
Every year we have made improvements within the Sportsman internally and externally, new wooden sash type windows which open fully with the safety option of child proof locks have recently been fitted within all the rooms facing to the front and side of the building.
Portable tv's and tea and coffee making facilities are available within the rooms.
Our motto is comfortable bed and delicous breakfast often including local Craster kippers, a selection of fruit and cereals and eggs and bacon.Wherever possible we include local ingredients from Northumberland such as Chainbridge Honey Farm honey. There are a few rooms which have a double and a single bed within the room which is ideal for a family or twin option. There are two staircases within the Sportsman.
